How to Unclog a Toilet without a Plunger

Youve taken care of business when nature calls in the morning or after a busy day at the office. Unfortunately, the toilet could not flush, and there is no plunger at sight. Stop trying to flush the toilet because you will end up causing more problems.

Using a plunger is the solution when youre in such a situation, but you should not lose hope since you cant get access to any, instead, follow the process of unclogging a toilet without a plunger recommended by professional plumbers from Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Pittsburgh. First off, you need to take a deep breath because this could be disgusting but with perseverance, you will be successful. Get the following materials ready:

  • Dish soap or shampoo
  • A gallon of hot water not boiling water because it could affect your toilet
  • Baking powder and vinegar
  • Hand gloves

Remember, Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Pittsburgh recommends this process only for a toilet that is not overflowing. For safety and to avoid the overflow of the toilet, you need to turn off the water supply to the toilet. In case the toilet has started to overflow, then get a disposable bowel and manually remove the excess water. Now let's get started.

Step 1 get things lubricated

Lubricating the path of flow will help to soften whatsoever that is restricting the passage of water and other waste materials. So pour in as much liquid soap as possible into the bowl. If you cant get access to liquid soap, you can use shampoo because it can act as a lubricant when you find yourself in such a mess.

Wait for three to five minutes for the liquid soap or shampoo to penetrate.

Step 2 use hot water

You are supposed to boil a gallon of water to tea temperature while on the first recommended step. Hot water has been identified to break up toilet paper, female hygienic pads, and solids. The water should be hot but not boiling.

So gradually pour the hot water into the bowl and wait for about fifteen to twenty minutes before flushing the toilet.

At this point, things should start working. If the problem persists, then try the above process once more before getting to the next step.

Step 3 Use baking powder and vinegar

You might be getting frustrated at this point, but this is to the time to lose hope. However, it is expected that the toilet can overflow any moment, so you need a bailout or remove some amount of water out from the bowl. Then, pour a cup of baking powder and two cups of vinegar into the toilet bowl. This combination can result in bubbles but make sure you are not inhaling them.

Wit for two to five minutes and you will notice that things will start moving along. In case they dont, then go over to the next step.

Final step - Call a professional from Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Pittsburgh
